Depends what
type of situation is being addressed. For instance, in cases of someone being
born with a different functioning brain, a differently abled person, then that
is something that is physical. For instance, someone who is on the autism
spectrum. There are many cases of people with these types of differences, most
all of them still intelligent (usually higher than average intelligence
actually), but different than the normal so-called. It’s the same with
dyslexia. There are also mental illnesses and mood disorders. These things,
though I am no doctor, are actual real things though some liberal minded and
radical people think that these are inventions by some conspiratorial hand.
Having worked on the front-lines extensively for years with people with
different learning modes, with other people with severe mental illnesses like
paranoid schizophrenia, and many other people besides, I do believe in
different learning modes, and in mental illnesses. Some of the ways in which
people like this appear in the world are as enlightened people, people who have
broken through something, - and there can be a stare into space. And maybe it
is the real thing also. It’s hard to know. So, I say all the above to point out
that: Oddly enough, though I am talking about Oneness, mind, words, writing,
talking,- appears to take place in duality (though in actuality it does not-
the words appear even in silence)- but for conversation sake,- we have to label
things and make some decisions and designations. One of these is that: Mental
illnesses, learning disabilities, or simply on another hand, strange,
interesting, and eccentric people like artists, poets, writers, and even many
non-duality speakers,- does not Nonduality make,- is not nonduality, is something
else altogether and can sometimes be mistaken for nonduality. Nonduality should
never be an excuse for not dealing with an organic brain disorder, or with a learning
modality difference, or so on.
All that being
said,- if a person for some reason was firstly awake, was ‘satori-ized!,’
experienced some sort of moksha, freedom, bliss, awakening, shift, whatever
term suits the reader,- then…………………………….what the psychiatrists term ‘affect,’
or presentation, (the way a person moves, speaks, listens, daydreams, thinks,
so on-) in the world,- can appear quite different and strange and the person
can be misdiagnosed by a professional, by his or her peers, by him or herself
even. This is a very important point. There is not, though it is changing
slowly, a model that is accepted and known about in Western society that allows
for a seeker, a finder, a liberated person or someone searching for such. I
myself, for whatever reason, - it is impossible to know which category (first
paragraph or second) or a mix of the two (talk about complicated there), - was
in the school and church and wherever just staring out the window. So staring
into space and staring out the window was the joy, the excitement, the
intrigue, the natural inclination. Pure existence experiencing somehow itself.
And I was fine, more than fine. Existence or whatever this all is, is magical,
weird, intriguing, mystical. If I had to talk or have to talk to someone it is
an act in a way. You learn social cues on what to say like, ‘How are you today?’
‘Oh me? I am fine. Thanks for asking.’ What a nice day out. Or, ‘its seems like
we might get some rain later.’ Well, have a nice day, and take care. Nice
talking to you.’ What is more, in compensation, in talking, in school, in
whatever interaction- for some weird reason- you can get really good at compensation.
I received multiple scholarships to universities. I told the academic advisor that
it’s really not what it looks like, - and he said, don’t worry, if all else
fails, we will make a lawyer out of you. He had the transcripts in front of
him, and me, - but he believed the transcripts. And I had a difficult time. The
best of compensators can’t compensate forever. Every dog has its day
unfortunately.
So, what is the
point trying to be made? It is something like this:
1) Some but not
all people, tend to stare into space a lot, like to a noticeable extent where
others around them would comment or politely or impolitely ask if something is ‘wrong’
with that person.
2) This stating,
IMHO,- in my humble opinion, can be due to some kind of disorder on the one
hand, or can be due to having had an awakening or awakenings, and not existence,
not a person really, is staring through from space to space.
3) It can be a
mix of a disorder or condition and an awakening.
4) The person
picks up that they are different, and learns to compensate.
5) Some persons
compensate really well, and can appear not even normal, but graceful,
intelligent, interested, even charmed or charming. Meanwhile, they are just
acting, - not to be deceitful, but to make you more comfortable, to make the
situation comfortable.
In conclusion, I
have no conclusion. That is all what just came out.
