NONDUALITY IS A HINDRANCE TO NONDUALITY

Did we need the words when we were it and it was all there was? No, of course not. Did we need the words when IT found us again? No, of course not. Did we have anything to do, though we tried very much to attain to it, with IT attaining to us? Probably not, but it’s impossible to know either way. Should we talk about it? Who knows? Some say energy can be passed back and forth or one way. Maybe. How could such a thing be measured? Speaking of it is probably a hindrance to it. Yet, it’s okay if everything is it. Still, it seems sometimes like speaking of it could be a hindrance to it. But isn’t the speaking all inside of it if everything is it? Still again, it seems like we are looking for something. Or found something. Or are something. Better to go for a walk than speak of it, and maybe, though it’s not known how it works, IT will find us again even though it never left us.

NONDUALITY IS THE MISE EN SCENE

A film term for everything behind the camera. Everything in this sense means everything. That would be one thing. It’s just one thing. Everything is one thing. Existence becomes the mise en scene. Simple. But the term implies the visual. What about the hearing, the tasting, the touching, the mind? All is included. And here is the funny part. What about the sense of ‘I’. Is that part of this new mise en scene? Yes. If there is nothing that is not it, then there is nothing that is not it.

NONDUALITY AND THE MAGIC OF EXISTENCE

When you were a child and you looked at the plush balloon like seats, velvety, of a car, and lost all sense of yourself for the stare. Or, when you looked without trying out windows and saw the scene, autumnal, dusk, maybe even sad somehow, and the pane of the window, though painted white, was chipping. There was no difference between the outside and the inside, no filter, and huge existential terror, for nobody, just a pure sense of terror, mixed, totally against any reason known to any species in existence perhaps, with a pure sense of bliss and God (for nobody). It’s like a dream that is come to life. How in the world did we get here? And how come all the souls are not walking around in absolute wonderment at it all? You saw a tree, and were the tree and the ground and the sky behind. But that is not. It can’t be put into words. Even if the person you are comes back and claims and experience (and how could it be otherwise in order to communicate or be in this world), there is perhaps some memory at the least. Of…when you were a child and you looked at the plush balloon like seats, velvety, of a car, and lost all sense of yourself for the stare.

NONDUALITY AND PHRASEOLOGY (BIRDS AND BRIDGES)

A bird flies through the sky and it’s seen. In that moment there is just seeing. Then something comes in and says, ‘I saw a bird’. Some people say, ‘An apparent bird appeared in an apparent reality to an apparent observer.’ It’s weird. It works for some people. It’s not wrong or right, but it sounds odd. An old atheist once said, ‘Sure maybe things have all been constructed by atoms and molecules and whatever that are moving around so fast they appear solid, feel solid, and maybe there is nothing at their core, but that talking and thinking like that is not what gets bridges built.’ He had something there. It’s maybe easier to say, I saw a bird. I walked over a bridge.

NONDUALITY AND THE REST OF THE DAYS

If something has apparently happened, or not happened, or whatever, and the whole existence is still there, then the body-mind will have to play out its days and nights, its weeks and months, its years and decades, its life and its death. That’s it. What a drag in a way. If the body mind is prone to be happy and healthy, it will be. If it is prone to be melancholic and suffer this and that malady, it will. Probably. What has changed? The romantic search is over, or has dulled or slowed extremely. Maybe it was all a dream and maybe it was not. Physical laws continue. Drop an object and it goes down due to gravity. Don’t have enough water and the body will suffer. Lack of sleep? The mind and body will get jittery, confused. Nice sleep on a cool windy day, a meal and a good book or company, and the body-mind will be at ease. For a bit. Then the tide will turn. There seems to be no other way. Things are what they are. There is no separation so the good and bad is ours completely, for the better and worse. This is close or just like, in so many ways, ‘hard atheism’. We can’t say what will happen after other that these apparent bodies will be fodder for the earth.

NONDUALITY: THE MYSTIC AND THE MASTER

Za-Zen, or sudden awareness, or a shock to the system such as in crazy-wise teachings, or just this, looks silly and is silly, but that is where the, perhaps, true master and masters work from and are. Far, far through the looking glass, they arrive back to the same place, - the everyday. There is a saying, Nothing is sacred to one who is and moves through the sacred. So, a master could appear as anything. In fact, a toothless, illiterate old village person, working with scabbed hands and an empty belly, with wrinkles everywhere and a piece of cloth for clothing, could be the perfect candidate. But, a person driving a Cadillac and wearing a gold ring, eating a 16 OZ. steak could also be it. Or not. The mystic is another idea. The mystic does not have to be awakened. It seems the highest masters, if we could mention such a thing just for talking or writing sake, rarely if ever speak about such things that they mystics are involved with. Reincarnation, divination, conversing with spirits, runes, the weather, and so much more. Visions, kundalini, astrology, palmistry, chakras, astral travel, so on- maybe the masters know well these things are valid but that they are pitfalls and diversions, distractions, to the golden grain, to the real goal, which the present. Maybe a rare soul could be a mystic and a master both. Maybe not. Who is to know?
