A bird flies
through the sky and it’s seen. In that moment there is just seeing. Then
something comes in and says, ‘I saw a bird’. Some people say, ‘An apparent bird
appeared in an apparent reality to an apparent observer.’ It’s weird. It works
for some people. It’s not wrong or right, but it sounds odd. An old atheist once
said, ‘Sure maybe things have all been constructed by atoms and molecules and
whatever that are moving around so fast they appear solid, feel solid, and
maybe there is nothing at their core, but that talking and thinking like that
is not what gets bridges built.’ He had something there. It’s maybe easier to
say, I saw a bird. I walked over a bridge.
